EL MAR No.2203
2022
Abstract Expressionism on fine art paper by the artist Gustaf Tidholm.
This is the third artwork in the EL MAR series.
In this piece, I explore the oceanan’s impact on both natural and human-made structures, the marks of time on surfaces slowly transformed by water, wind, and salt. The colors and textures reflect erosion and transformation, blending rusty tones with faded shades and turquoise accents. It suggests a place shaped by the sea, where stories are etched and slowly erased by the passage of time.
The ocean is a constant force, shaping and reshaping. This artwork carries traces of what once was but also of what continues to change. It invites reflection on the passage of time, the power of nature, and the imprints we leave behind.
The painting is created with a blend of rust, umber, white, and turquoise palette that captures both the presence of the sea and its effects on the world around us. The technique is executed with acrylic on Lana Vanguard Hi-Tech paper, a high-quality, acid-free material made of 100% polypropylene.
Framing: The artwork is tastefully framed in a simple oak-colored frame with thin plexiglass, enhancing the painting’s rich textures and natural hues.
Size: 50 x 70 cm.
